Nach dem Kult-Erfolg von „Fight Club“ hätte man eigentlich gedacht, dass noch mehr Bücher von Romanautor Chuck Palahniuk verfilmt werden. Doch nach „Fight Club“ kam lange Zeit erstmal kein weitere Buchverfilmung. Bis der als Agent Coulson bekannte Darsteller Clark Gregg 2008 die Regie bei „Choke“ übernahm, der trotz toller Besetzung bei uns leider sofort auf DVD erschien (was schade ist, denn der Film ist toll). Nun kündigt sich endlich eine weitere Palahniuk-Verfilmung an.
Niemand anderer als Tausendsassa James Franco („Spring Breakers“) hat sich die Rechte am Roman „Rant“ gesichert. Dies gab Autor Chuck Palaniuk nun bekannt:
"As of last night we've finalized a deal for James Franco to option my novel 'Rant,'" […] "Details about the casting, shooting and a proposed release date will be forthcoming. Hurray. After the opportunity to work with Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Sam Rockwell, I can't imagine a more exciting actor to work with than Franco."
Der Roman “Rant” erschien bei uns 2007 unter dem Titel “Das Kainsmal”.
