The challenges of communication are at the heart of  s subtle storytelling. While her mystical romance On Body and Soul that won the top prize at Berlinale, focused on the ambiguous affiliations of humans and animals, her new work examines the delicate connection between people and plants. Silent Friend follows three scientists in three decades as they form botancial bonds to the patient vegetale observers in a university garden. Ahead of the German release the Hungarian director - recently honored with a lifetime achievement award at the Cairo International Film Festival - spoke with Lidanoir about the scientific background of the story, her own relationship to plants, and subjectivity of a seemingly certain reality.
