Die Kickboxerin Ina Schäfer wird nach einer spontanen Bewusstlosigkeit in die Sachsenklinik eingeliefert. Als Ina auf Nachfragen von Dr. Niklas Ahrend zugibt, dass sie im vergangenen Jahr bereits mehrfach ohne Vorzeichen das Bewusstsein verloren hat, ist Niklas alarmiert. Er ordnet weitgehende Untersuchungen an. Ina, die vor dem wichtigsten Kampf ihrer bisherigen Karriere steht, fügt sich nur widerwillig. Dr. Roland Heilmann bittet Brentano, Niklas bei dem Fall zu unterstützen. Dr. Philipp Brentano bewirbt sich gerade auf eine neu geschaffene Oberarztstelle und ist sofort mit Feuereifer dabei. Während Niklas glaubt, dass Ina an einem Herzproblem leidet, vermutet Brentano eine neurologische Ursache. Die beiden jungen Ärzte geraten derart in Konkurrenz, dass Ina völlig verunsichert und zunehmend ängstlicher wird, denn bei beiden Diagnosen wäre ihre Sportlerkarriere zu Ende.
