Ein Spiel einer ungewöhnlichen Sportart: Rollerderby. Sexy Mädchen im Sixties-Look kämpfen auf Rollschuhen um ein Terrain. Heute die Stuttgarter Rollergirrlz gegen Gäste aus Dänemark. Dabei kommt eine der Spielerinnen, Lara Derbusch, ums Leben. Die Studentin wurde mit einer ungewöhnlichen Tatwaffe vergiftet: einem vergifteten Tampon. Während der Ermittlungen der SOKO Stuttgart stellt sich heraus, dass der Tampon Yvonne Derbusch, der Schwester des Opfers und ebenfalls Mitglied der Rollergirrlz, gehörte. Galt der Giftanschlag also ihr? Yvonne ist geschockt und kann sich den Tod ihrer Schwester nicht erklären. Die war eine unschuldige Studentin und hatte keine Feinde. Martina Seiffert und ihr Team nehmen die Rollergirrlz unter die Lupe. Die Mitspielerin und Konkurrentin Carmen Grothe gerät unter Tatverdacht, als die Ermittler herausfinden, dass sie ein Verhältnis mit dem geschiedenen Ehemann Yvonnes, Gunnar Zenker, hatte. Aber auch Zenker selbst hätte ein starkes Tatmotiv. Er und Yvonne stritten erbittert um das Sorgerecht für den gemeinsamen Sohn Luka. Arndt Meier, Besitzer des Rockabilly Shops „Fishnet Stockings“, kennt das Team der Rollergirrlz sehr gut. Er stattet sie mit Kostümen und Trikots aus und ist bei den Derbys der Mannschaft dabei. Ist er in den Vorfall verwickelt? Aber ein Motiv scheint er nicht zu haben. Den Rollergirrlz bleibt nicht viel Zeit zum Trauern, denn das wichtige Spiel gegen das dänische Team, das wegen des tragischen Unfalls abgebrochen wurde, muss wiederholt werden. Die SOKO findet schließlich heraus, dass Carmen Grothe, die als Chemielaborantin angestellt ist, als Einzige Zugang zu dem tödlichen Gift hatte. Doch durch geschickte Ermittlerarbeit kommen die Kommissare der Sache endgültig auf den Grund, entlarven die letzten Ungereimtheiten und entdecken, worum es in diesem Fall wirklich geht.
