Clemens und Vera Richter kehren verfrüht aus dem Urlaub zurück. Heiko, der Sohn der beiden, hat eine Party im elterlichen Haus geschmissen und muss kurzerhand seine Freunde zum gehen bewegen, darunter auch seine Freundin Tina Ullrich. Die Lehrerin Elisabeth Meinhart erhält von Dr. Frank Ullrich keine guten Nachrichten. Als er sie außerdem auf ihre Narbe von einem Kaiserschnitt anspricht, erzählt sie ihm, dass das Kind damals gestorben sei. Patrick Graf will die Schule noch vor dem Abitur verlassen - bis zu seinem 30. Lebensjahr will er seine erste Million verdient haben. Peter Becker, der beste Freund von Heiko Richter, hat Probleme zuhause nachdem die Jobvermittlung durch Frau Meinhart nur schleppend vorangeht. Bei einem hitzigen Gespräch mit Elisabeth erlitt diese einen kleinen Schwächeanfall. Nun möchte er noch einmal mit ihr telefonieren, Elisabeth hat aber bereits einen anderen, folgenschweren Entschluss getroffen.

Peter und Elke Opitz können Elisabeth im letzten Moment retten. Nachdem Clemens Heiko von der bevorstehenden Scheidung in Kenntnis gesetzt hat, verlässt er noch am selben Abend das Haus. Seine Geliebte, Claudia Wedemeier, drängt ihn, endlich den Anwalt zu kontaktieren. Patrick stellt sich in der Agentur Löpelmann vor. Erwin Becker bezichtigt seinen Sohn Peter, Geld gestohlen zu haben. Als Peter dies bestreitet, lässt Erwin die Fäuste sprechen.

Patrick macht Tina Hoffnung, sie ganz groß als Top-Model herauszubringen. Tinas Bruder Frank ist von der Idee ganz und gar nicht begeistert. Heiko kümmert sich um Vera, die nach der Trennung von Clemens mit Depressionen zu kämpfen hat. Peter steht blutüberströmt vor der Tür der Richters. Er glaubt er habe seinen Vater umgebracht. Diesen findet Heiko jedoch quicklebendig in seiner Wohnung vor. Peter soll vorerst bei Vera und Heiko einziehen.

Lilo Gottschick, die Inhaberin eines Hostessen-Service bei dem Julia Backhoff arbeitet, trifft im Parkcafé auf Elke. Nach einem kurzen Gespräch und einem indirekten Jobangebot orakelt Lilo Elke gegenüber, sie werde in weniger als zwei Wochen bei ihr arbeiten. Als Vera sich beim Joggen den Knöchel verstaucht, kümmert sich Peter liebevoll um die Verletzung. Dabei kommt es zu einer verfänglichen Situation zwischen den beiden, in Folge dessen Vera Peter bittet, sich eine neue Bleibe zu suchen.

Heiko streitet sich mit Vera wegen Peters Auszug. Elisabeth sucht Peter auf. Sie bezichtigt ihn, ihren Abschiedsbrief entwendet zu haben als er sie leblos in ihrer Wohnung gefunden hatte. Ihr Verdacht wird allerdings schnell entschärft als Frank ihr offenbart, das er den Brief an sich genommen und in ihrer Wohnung versteckt hat. Elke möchte mehr über Julias Job erfahren und verabredet sich deshalb mit ihr.

Elisabeth bittet ihre alte Bekannte Frau Gerlach, bei den Beckers nach Peter zu fragen nachdem dieser bei den Richters ausgezogen ist. Für Erwin und Gerda ist Frau Gerlach keine Unbekannte, war sie doch damals diejenige, die den Beckers auf nicht ganz legale Weise zur Adoption von Peter geholfen hat. Der Besuch lässt Erwin eine fette Erbschaft wittern, woraufhin er sich mit seinem Adoptivsohn wieder versöhnen möchte. Unterdessen wird Peter ein Job als Animateur angeboten. Claudia wird von Heiko aufgesucht, der ihr die Affäre mit seinem Vater ausreden möchte.

Peter and Benni work in the marina. Neither the Beckers nor Mrs. Meinhart and Mrs. Gerlach know where Peter is. It is only through Frank Ulrich that Mrs. Meinhart learns where the boy is. Even Frank can't know that the young people have problems with the police. Meanwhile, Richter's secretary and lover Claudia is putting increasing pressure on her boss. She wants to enjoy the same luxurious standard of living as Vera.

Johanna is flash-healed: Johanna wants to participate in a horse show and is suddenly flash-healed.

Denise Köhler is bitter about Bertram's demand that she have her child aborted. She is faced with the choice of losing either her baby or her husband. She decides to seek advice from Dr. Frank Ulrich. He also wants to prevent an abortion. In practice is also the advertising maker A.R. Daniel, who wants to be treated for back pain. The angry Peter Becker confronts his "parents". After a hard struggle, they admit that Peter is not their biological son. After Gerda had a miscarriage, they were offered to take in a son for a lot of money. Peter is determined to find his true parents. Meanwhile, the relationship between Frank Ulrich and Patricia Koller is thriving. When Frank comes home late at night, he meets his jealous sister Tina. She makes him a scene.

Peter moves back to the Richters. Vera is not enthusiastic about it, but she does not want to mess with her son Heiko. The friends go in search of Peter's true parents. The only clue is the address of a woman landlord, who allegedly arranged the baby swap at the time. But the address is no longer correct. The current resident does not know where the former tenants have moved. Frank has an appointment with Patricia to play golf. Tina is angry because he moves her because of it.

Frank invited Patricia Koller for dinner. Tina, who "is allowed" to be there with Heiko, feels obliged to prepare the dinner. She is offended when Frank comes home with ready-made food from the party service. The evening does not go according to her wishes, Heiko talks to Patricia, and Tina feels superfluous; Elke meets Michael Döring. She explains to him that she left school because of his reenactments; Daniel falls unconscious during a phone call with Claudia in his office. Fortunately, Patrick Graf is on the spot. Frank, Heiko and Patricia go on a Sunday-Trip. Tina stays at home, she doesn't have her jealousy of Frank's new girlfriend under control. Elke meets Döring again, but doesn't let him go too far. She hopes to marry him in a few months. Peter visits Mrs. Meinhart. They come to terms with each other, and the teacher promises to help her former student find a job. At Ullrichs, the house blessing has been restored. Tina and Patricia get along well. Denise bursts into the cozy atmosphere. She asks Frank to abort her child.

Frank advises Denise against an abortion. Clemens does not want Claudia to force him to divorce his wife. Heiko tries to get his desperate mother away from alcohol. Tina gets a job as a receptionist at 'Sports Unlimited - Sport total'. The company turns out to be a porn-shop whose boss is Mr. Smythe. Vera wants to divorce Clemens when she gets the house.

Tina doesn't want to move in with her boyfriend Heiko. He then skips school. Mrs. Meinhart is reluctantly persuaded to go with Jessica and her boyfriend Charlie to the "Club of Lonely Hearts". Michael Döring contacts Elke. Heiko, Tina and Peter are still looking for Mrs. Wirt. Finally, they have to learn that Mrs. Wirt died two years ago.

Peter is frustrated because the search for his mother has not progressed. Mrs. Meinhart met the dentist Joseph Mader in the dance club, who is very sympathetic to her. Clemens wants to have a comradely fatherly conversation with his son Heiko. The attempt goes down the drain. Heiko doesn't want to be told anything more. He invites himself to dinner with Vera and Clemens. This means that the two have to play a sweet home for an entire evening. Lilo wants to take revenge on Michael Döring with the help of Elke. Mrs. Meinhart reveals to Joseph Madigan, whom she met in the club, that she never wants to commit herself again. She doesn't give their relationship a chance. Joseph has to accept that. Elke ended up in Lilo Gottschick's office. The sophisticated businesswoman speaks to the naive girl with angelic tongues.

Elke is allowed to buy new clothes at Lilo's expense. But how is she supposed to explain to Mrs. Meinhart and the others where she got the money for the clothes? Lilo reassures her that Elke should look for an alibi job during the day. She finds it too, in Peter's cafeteria. Elke survives her first 'rendezvous' with a customer nervously, but unscathed. Peter wants to make his cafeteria a hit and also presents the menu in the nearby agency Löpelmann. At Richters, preparations for the visit of the great boss are in full swing. Clemens distributes personal belongings everywhere in the apartment so that it looks as if he still lives there. Löpelmann enjoys the staging. He has long known about the Richters' divorce plans.

Peter's adoptive mother is completely done with the nerves since he moved out. He gives her some money during his visit and runs away before Erwin comes home. At the Richters, Peter meets Löpelmann, who has stayed with Clemens and Vera after dinner. Even now he proves his attachment, the two must continue to play their role of the happy couple. Peter tells Löpelmann about the plans he has for the cafeteria. This is impressed by the strong will of the young man. Denise is doing badly. She asks Bertram not to go to work. When he leaves her alone, she calls a radio show for lonely people. Bertram in the cafeteria accidentally listens to what she says about her marriage.

Heiko bursts into the office and demands that Patrick keep his hands off Tina.

The head of the agency hypocritically responds to Elke's wishes, but insists that the 14-day notice period is observed. Clemens bought shares to allow Vera and Heiko to keep the house.

Heiko believes Peter is having an affair with his mother. The two go at each other, then Heiko runs out of the house, sits down in the car and drives off. Vera is done with the nerves. A. R. Daniel happens to stop by and comfort her. Peter blames himself for the incident. Tina is with Patrick when Elke bursts in and trumpets the news of her engagement to Michael Döring. Claudia spends the weekend on Oswald Löpelmann's yacht. Contrary to her expectations, he apparently only invited her to work.

Denise and Bertram treat themselves to a picnic trip for two and give their baby in Mrs. Meinhart's care; Lilo Gottschick orchestrates an intrigue. Under a pretext, she lures Michael into her office, where Elke is staying with a customer.

Michael drags Elke home from Lilo's agency and locks her in his bathroom. Bertram discovered his love for gliding. Denise is worried about that. Vera doesn't know where Heiko is. Clemens wants to separate from Claudia. Frank visits Michael Döring to inquire about Elke. The teacher denies knowing anything about her whereabouts. Frank has no idea that Elke is lying in the next room. She has a severe shock because Döring raped her.

Michael Döring has been found dead with scissors in his back. Frank gets Elke a lawyer. In addition, he takes care of the certificate of a gynecologist, so that her rape can be proven if necessary.

Peter Becker makes a false statement in the Döring murder case. He claims to the police that he was in a park with Elke at the time in question; Clemens tells Vera about his hopeless efforts to find a job again. She decides to help him and meets Löpelmann without his knowledge; Elke tells Elisabeth Meinhart more about the night before Michael Döring died.

Heiko suspects that Peter lied to protect Elke. Claudia has to learn that Löpelmann is looking for a new secretary. She is devastated and immediately wants to pack her things. But Löpelmann waves a key. It's the 'Open, Sesame!' for his New York office that will turn Claudia into a thriving agency. She is happy. Peter is interrogated again by the police. The inspector tells him on the head that he lied all the time.

Peter hopes that the inspector is just bluffing. But the policeman trumps with a witness: Marina. She claims to have seen Peter at the other end of the city at the specified time. Now not only Peter is a liar, but Elke is also a suspect again; Clemens is still haunted by bad luck. Just when he has sold his shares at a loss, they increase in value. Someone tricked him, but who?

Daniel learns via detours that Patrick Graf has bought the shares of Clemens. Enraged, he rushes into Patrick's office and knocks him down. Meanwhile, Ms. Meinhart tries to persuade Julia Backhoff to testify in the Döring case. However, Julia worries that a statement would be dangerous for her. In fact, it turns out that her fears were not unfounded.

Mrs. Meinhart arrives at just the right time to stop the drunken Julia from taking her own life. Oswald Löpelmann persuades Clemens to return to the old agency. Meanwhile, a passionate interlude is brewing between Tina and Heiko. However, when Heiko wants to go to a motel with her, Tina's initial euphoria turns into rejection.

Lilo put the scissors on Elke's neck. Frank Ulrich steps in as a rescuer in times of need. Frank alarms the police, but the police doesn't believe Elke a word. Slowly, Frank also begins to doubt Elke's state of mind. Meanwhile, it seems as if the Richters' house blessing is hanging straight again. But this is not the case, because Clemens has returned to his family home for 'purely business reasons'.

Peter Becker pounces on the commissioner, who called Julia one of the most expensive whores in the city. The inspector now reveals the whole truth about his girlfriend to the stunned Peter. He is finally able to find Petra's address with the help of Mrs. Meinhart. She lives in a hotel. Peter must now hear the bitter truth from her mouth. Patrick Graf has difficult times ahead of him overall: He doesn't exactly enjoy great popularity in the agency, and nothing else works out as it should.

Peter confronts Julia about her past. She throws him out and he gets drunk with the Richters. Meanwhile, Tina can't decide to tell Richard the truth about the alleged engagement. Oswald admonishes Patrick to keep the company secrets to himself. Elke goes into hiding with Annette Döring in a hotel to calm down. However, Lilo soon locates Elke.

Elke and Annette Döring see in the news that both Elke and Lilo Gottschick are being sought by the police. Tina meets Patrick's father, who shows his best side. The old Löpelmann is furious when he learns of Tina's contacts with the old earl. He wants to kick her out. When Annette leaves Elke alone for a few minutes, Lilo Gottschick appears. She pushes the girl into a corner of the room and chokes her. But Annette is back faster than expected and intervenes.
