The divine Shadow needs to periodically renew himself. The latest reincarnation is flawed and a series of events unfold that cause the destruction of the Shadows power and for a group of accidental rebels to steal the most powerful weapon in the two Universes, the starship Lexx.

As things settle down on the Lexx, the crew realizes Kai needs a constant supply of proto-blood to continue to function in the real world. Stanley and the others undertake a desperate mission to Kai's wrecked home world in search of a way to extend Kai's existence.
